Tech ‘n’ Talks Wiesn

On September 26th, 2024, we brought together the best in AI and coaching for an unforgettable community event in Munich!
Inspired by King Ludwig I and Princess Therese’s historic wedding—the very origin of Oktoberfest—our gathering celebrated the L&D and enablement community and dove deep into how AI is reshaping the future of learning and talent development.
The day kicked off with an exclusive business breakfast for our speakers, setting a warm, close-knit space for bold ideas and collaborative energy. We launched the official event with a keynote, “From wows to vows – Staying ahead of the curve with AI.” It highlighted AI pioneers and the transformative benefits, as well as unique challenges companies of implementing AI. The message was clear: AI is here to stay, and the future belongs to those who lead with it.
Next, we took a deep dive into the luxury industry with a captivating case study on how "Global standards, local interpretation, and quick reactions" drive international success. The takeaway? Elevating people is the ultimate way to elevate brands. This was followed by the lively “Leadership 5.0” panel discussion, featuring disruptors from Deutsche Telekom and Hapag-Lloyd, who discussed how AI is supercharging the search for emerging leaders and empowering the leaders of tomorrow.
Our interactive round-table session tackled the powerful trio of humans, AI, and trust. Provocative questions like “Can AI be a trusted coach?” and “Can AI make us more human?” sparked thought-provoking conversations around AI's role in learning and development.
The spotlight then turned to coaching ROI. Dr. Patrick Oehler, Retorio’s Co-CEO shared how Retorio’s AI platform delivers measurable value even in budget-tight times, reminding us that user experience, excitement, and accessibility are just as critical to learning success as ROI.
Excitement peaked with the launch of Retorio's newest tool: the Retorio coaching session generator. This game-changer allows users to create training content in minutes, empowering teams to practice in real time, get instant feedback, and improve skills with data-driven precision.
To close out the sessions, Jan Beuth, Retorio's corporate learning & CS expert, led a workshop on learner engagement, offering actionable tips on sparking intrinsic motivation and lowering barriers to voluntary training. His insights, grounded in psychology and real-world examples, gave attendees fresh strategies for inspiring meaningful engagement.
And, of course, we ended the day in true Bavarian style at Oktoberfest! From the cozy setting of the Münchner Stubn Festzelt to late-night networking at the Löwenbräu Festzelt, the evening was filled with laughter, learning, and a toast to a bright future where AI and coaching continue to grow hand-in-hand.
It was a day of inspiring talks, cutting-edge insights, and joyful networking—a true celebration of our vibrant, growing community!
